Outlook: Partly Sunny

January 26th, 2010

I got a call from a major hotel chain for a job opening they have at one of their nice resorts out by Tampa.  I have an interview on Saturday.  I don’t even care if I’m making crap for money, right now I only get $1,200 a month from the state of Florida and my COBRA health insurance is $650 a month.  If you wonder why I haven’t just gotten a job in a restaurant or a bar since I am a regular in downtown Orlando and know everyone, the reason is medical benefits.

See, I have epilepsy  (Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy to be exact) and the shitty insurance companies require consistent coverage, or else it’s considered a “pre-existing condition” and they never have to cover it.  Ever. Again.  We won’t even touch on the subject of the cost of an ER visit or an ambulance ride if I have a seizure in public, or my visits to the neurologist.  Without insurance, my medication alone costs close to $2,000 a month.

Do you see why some people are for Obama’s health reform?

To make this post more positive, I leave you with pictures of my future husband.

Snow Day

January 7th, 2010

How not funny is this?  I feel badly for all of the people who spent money to come to the theme parks on a winter vacation!

I thought I’d be able to go to the gym today, but I’m not completely better and don’t think my nose would hold up through a workout. It’s that psuedo-sick stage where you aren’t well enough, but not so sick you can just sleep.  In short: I’m bored.

I am going to get out of the house to watch the BCS National Championship. I’m not sure what I’m going to do when football is over… watch basketball I guess.
